CHILTON BROADCAST AUTOMATED PLAYSYSTEM

The Playsystem is supplied with all the necessary * hardware and software with detailed instructions on how to Load, Edit and Play, for both a fully automated stand-alone Radio playback system or using the Playsystem as auto assist for live programmes.

For artist separation feature to work the software requires the audio files to contain the artist and title in the file name, in a consistent format. The default format is Artist-Title.ext (The Beatles-Help.mp3 ) This is the unofficial international standard. The basic software does not utilise MP3 ID3 tags. However an alternative Media Source Organiser is supplied which finds very fast, any recording stored on your hard disc or external storage devices. You can enter and edit extra information about each MP3 recording with ID3 tags. Can be used for live request programmes.

To eliminate the need for you to manually type the track information of any audio CD’s tracks a feature called CDDB can connect your computer to the internet and automatically retrieve the track names and other useful track information.

With the basic software Creator you can design the structure for every hour of the day.

Hourly rotations are defined by selecting a mixture of music categories and spot groups. Each category may be a different genre of music, tempo, age, etc. so you can for example, inhibit two fast rock tracks from playing consecutively. Different days of the week, or hours of the day, often require a different format. Once the structure has been defined, playlists can be generated week after week with no maintenance required, unless spots such as advertisements need to be adding or removed.

Many other features such as song and artist repeat protection, or a song by the same artist is not played too close together. Creates an interactive web based playlist for the entire week for your Presenters or Listeners to see what is coming up, generate a summary of all selected songs for royalty payment, and a summary of spots for billing.

Playback Studio: Is basically a sophisticated audio player with special features for radio stations needs, and is used to automatically load playlist files every hour, and play the audio files in an automatic or live assist (manual) mode as scheduled by the software. Can also be used to insert tracks manually for live shows. Without the need to use a CD player etc.

The software generates a detailed CSV log file of every spot played, this can be loaded into a spread sheet and filtered to produce spot summaries for advertisement billing, and record each song for royalties.

The Cart System: These are for jingles or sound effects. A total of 48 can be selected from the keyboard or screen, can be played at any time, selecting a second cart whist the other is playing will fade the former out.

Crossfading: Advanced Crossfading Plug-in is used, which analyse the volume of outgoing and incoming tracks and calculates the best crossfade position and overlap duration. the default setting can be changed. But is no available for WMA files.

An audio converter is supplied which provides conversion from one format to another. You can also set constant or variable bit rate. You can record all programme output to Hard-Disc @ up to 24-bit/96 kHz controlled from the Keyboard with ’R’ record, ’S’ stop, and ’P’ playback.

A windows based Wave Studio application allows the following sound edit functions: Play, edit and record 8-bit (tape quality), and 16 bit (CD quality) and 24-bit wave data. Enhance your wave data or create unique sounds with various special effects and editing operations such as reverse, echo, mute, pan, cut, copy, and paste. Open and edit several audio files at the same time. Open Raw, MP3 and Windows Media Audio (wma) data files.
